Medium used for the detection and enumeration of Bacillus cereus by the technique of colony count at 30°C in the analysis of food products according to ISO7932. The medium is available as dehydrated powder to be supplemented with egg yolk. The principle of the medium relies on the inability of Bacillus cereus to ferment mannitol (pink colonies) and on the manifestation of lecithinase. Due to the presence of Polymyxin B sulfate, this medium inhibits other bacteria. Presumptive Bacillus cereus need to be confirmed on a suitable way (e.g Columbia Sheep Blood Agar).
