This Real-Time PCR kit detects the DNA of sugar beet (taxon reference gene) thus it allows to check if the extraction process yielded any sugar beet detectable DNA. In summary it is a paramount process control to give a correct interpretation to negative results when testing for sugar beet. The kit can also be used to monitor the presence of sugar beet in other ingredients and to quantify its contribution in a complex DNA mix. The kit was developed according to the experimental design of the EU reference laboratory (see https://gmo-crl.jrc.ec.europa.eu/gmomethods/).
