Yeasts and molds can proliferate under very varied conditions on raw materials, products and production environments and are therefore difficult to control. Making this control even more difficult is the five-day incubation period normally required by traditional agar methods. 3M Petrifilm quick yeast and mold counting plates identify the presence of yeast and mold in just 48 hours. Yeasts form blue colonies while molds can have more colors. They are available in the format of 50 or 500 units and iso 16140 certified as equivalent to the official method (DRBC, DG18, PDA or YGC).
