The Bobcat Air Sampler is a bioaerosol and particulate collection and recovery system that uses a 360° intake manifold and a quick filter elution kit. The Bobcat is powered by a long-lasting lithium battery and uses a 52 mm dry electret filter that captures particles, including viruses, bacteria, pollen, mold and fungal spores, as well as 0.01 or 10 micron non-biological particles with high efficiency. Electret filters are made with a combination of positively and negatively charged fibers that substantially increases harvesting efficiency and allows for higher sampling rates and for prolonged periods even using battery power. Since no fluids are used in the system, it can operate at low temperatures overcoming a limitation for most liquid cyclone type collectors. The disposable filter and elution kit are equipped with everything you need for quick sample recovery. After collecting the aerosol, the filter is removed from the collector, hooked to the sample cup, and eluted with the Wet Foam Elution system. The elution foam is released from the container evenly through the filter and in about 5 seconds produces 6 to 7 milliliters of liquid sample. The foam immediately collapses into a liquid in the sample cup, making it available for processing and analysis.
