A growing number of consumers adopt a vegetarian/vegan lifestyle. The demand for meat-free food is exponentially increasing thus the request for specific and sensitive tests to verify the presence of traces of animal products in finished vegetarian/vegan products. DNA analysis represents the best approach for confirming a product is an authentic veggie. This 2-plex Real-Time PCR kit with internal amplification control, detects animal DNA traces down to 0.1% (DNA w/w) in a vegan food type background. The kit does not detect crustacean and molluscans DNA traces, as soon as tehse are allergens and need to be detected specifically.
