TTC Tergitol 7 – Agar medium for enumeration of Escherichia coli and coliforms in water and wasteater acc. to ISO9308:2000
- Format: 500 g
- Code: TN1278
- Technology: Culture media and ISO confirmation tests
- Application: Food/Water microbiology
- Tag/Filter: Escherichia coli and coliforms
TTC Tergitol 7 medium is used as presumptive test in the detection and enumeration of Escherichia coli and other coliforms in water using Membrane-filtration technique, according to ISO9308 norm. Due to the presence of Tergitol 7, the medium inhibits Gram positive bacteria. The medium before inoculation is green. Bacteria capable to reduce TTC generate red-violet colonies, otherwise colonies are yellow. Lactose fermenting colonies acidify the medium and generate a yellow halo, otherwise colonies have a blue halo. E. coli and other coliforms form yellow or orange-colored colonies with a yellow halo. Other Gram-negative bacteria form red colonies surrounded by a blue halo. The medium is available as ready-to-use plate but also as bottles and powdered format to be supplemented before use.
